Hi, I'm Ben. I've been a fan of vegan podcasts and blogs since I went vegan in 2006.
They were of great help, education, entertainment, and unmatched comradery as a newbie and just as much still today. It's always nice to plug into a show and for that
hour hang out with some vegan friends who see the world through the same lens you do.
Recently I've been watching more of the many vegan cooking shows. You've got to check
out all these excellent productions. It's like watching the cooking channel minus all the dead body parts! They've inspired me to cook more, try new foods, invent on my own,
and share them with others.
I've found myself countless times zealously recommending various podcasts, cooking shows and blogs to both new and long time vegans.
When certain topics would come up, say "wool" for example, I'd suggest they check out Colleen Patrick-Goudreau's
episode that provides the history, details, myths and facts about that very topic. Other times I'd hear familiar
rants and tell someone to check out an episode of Vegan Freaks or Vegan Radio that I'd just listened to. But perhaps even
more than sharing with existing vegans, I've found vegan shows and blogs are a great way for the vegan curious or even
someone who's never pronounced the word right to become familiar with and hopefully inspired by veganism. It's my hope that
everyone will consider their actions towards not just human but non-human animals and at a base line minimum live a life of respect
and non-volence by not using them for food, clothing or entertainment. So give someone you know a chance to contemplate the status quo
and send some vegan media their way!
I have a history in web development and programming and have always wanted to create a vegan website to help the cause, and so a website dedicated to
discovering and sharing vegan media seemed like a great idea. Having long been a vegan news follower, I
also wanted a way to aggregate news from not just Google but Yahoo and Bing and I hope fellow news junkies find the vegan
headlines page an easy way to browse the latest headlines for "vegan" and "animal rights".
The expanding variety of vegan media helps normalize and
advocate for veganism while furthering the creativity and communication
among activists. Entertain and educate yourself and others, and whenever
you can, be sure to support these great productions with donations, book
purchases, social media sharing, advertiser support, and iTunes reviews.
