Oscar the Grouch is the trash can star of the children's educational series Sesame Street. I loved this show as a child and still to this day. But, now Oscar seems to be more of a neighborhood drunk or angry, schizophrenic homeless man. Either way, we love him. He is apart of the community. Today, Day 5 of My Daily Tart, we will be turning Oscar the Grouch into a tart. Avocado never looked so fun.

Oscar the Grouch Tart Recipe

Make one 9 inch tart



1 1/2 cup old fashion oats

4 pitted dates

1/4 teaspoon salt

1/4 teaspoon cinnamon

1/4 cup coconut oil

1/4 cup water


2 avocados

1 banana

1/2 cup almond milk

1 tablespoon vanilla extract


1 avocado

4 tablespoons cocoa powder

1 tablespoon vanilla extract

1/2 cup almond milk

1/4 cup agave nectar

1 strawberry

1/2 banana

1/2 cup raisins


Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F.

Grind 1/2 cup old fashion oats into flour using a food processor.

Process pitted dates with oat flour until small pieces form.

Add salt, cinnamon, coconut oil, remaining oats, and water to the food processor and pulse to combine (but not grind).

Spread the oatmeal mixture over the bottom and sides of a 9 inch tart pan.

Bake for 15 minutes. It should appear browned and dry.

Allow to cool before filling.

Puree the meat of the avocados and one peeled banana in a food processor.

Add in almond milk and vanilla extract and continue to process until well mixed.

Pour the greed pudding onto the crust and level with a spatula.

For the topping, puree the meat of one avocado, 3 or 4 tablespoons of cocoa powder, 1 tablespoon of vanilla extract, and almond milk.

Slice in half and hull the strawberry and thickly slice 1/2 a banana.

Use the strawberry to create his tongue.

Use two banana slices for eyeballs.

Use the raisins to form his mouth and for his pupils.

Lastly, create his uni-brow with the avocado-cocoa pudding.

Eat up!
